Instructor Harry SON

Instructor Harry SON, 2nd Dan
Majoring in Bachelor of Physical Education

Hello, my name is Instructor Harry Son. I am 2nd Dan black belt, and was named instructor early this year by Master Oh.  I started my Tae Kwon Do in 2005 from scratch in the very club I'm training now- Se Jong Tae Kwon Do, City.

I thought, besides getting more exercise, Tae Kwon Do would somehow magically make me more tougher, and teach me tricks that I could show off to friends.  When I first started to train in the Se Jong Club, I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and energy that every student had, and quickly fell in love with the sport.

Eager to learn and, truthfully, show off, I began to participate in every off-club activities including the tournaments, demonstrations at Santa Parades, and Lantern Festivals held at the Auckland City.
It is those times that I started to realise the true potential and teachings of Tae Kwon Do, which was not just about training the body and showing off, but to have peace within one's self, being disciplined and well mannered.

When I look at this great sport/martial art now, I feel that it is an opportunity for everyone to discover themselves and realise their potential.  From then on, I felt honored to train with other students who shared the same idea, and promised to myself that I would teach others what I have learnt from this sport. I received my 2nd Dan black belt in 2007, and still continuing to grade for higher level.

I hope, by training at our club, you can also feel the same sense of accomplishment that I had felt, and I look forward to the next training with you and your friends and family.

Master PARK

Senior Master Jong PARK, 4th Dan
4th Dan certificate Master
International Referee
Board Member and Tournament Organiser of NZ Taekwondo Alliance

Hi my name is Master Jong Park and I am a 4th Dan Master Instructor in Se Jong Taekwondo- City.  I first began Taekwondo at the age of six in Busan, Korea.

Being a shy boy, I had to start with my Dad and younger sister and we moved through the belts together. Growing up, I played many sports and participated in many group activities with kids of my own age, but Taekwondo was the only activity I was able to do with my family.

I earned my 3rd Dan black belt just before I graduated from primary school and our family migrated to New Zealand in April, 1994.  After a long struggle to find a good club, in year 2000, I began taking Taekwondo classes again at Se Jong Taekwondo as a university freshman and quickly fell in love with the club.

As much as I enjoyed training as a young kid myself, I enjoyed every opportunity that was given to help with class instruction, especially to young Korean kids who are going through the same learning curve as I was -settling in in their new foreign home, NZ.  I was honored to share my passion for Taekwondo, assisting each student to train their body and mind, one punch and one kick at a time.

Later on in 2001, I started to take my own class in Local Korean School and also Se Jong  Takapuna club in AUT's Akoranga Campus.

In 2008, I attended Beijing Olympic game in support of Master Oh and realised a great potential for Taekwondo to become a true global sports.   Since then, my Goal was set to establish a Wellbeing Taekwondo Fitness Centre which will encourage more students to join and enjoy the disciplines and values which Taekwondo teaches that will run through the fabric of society and once adopted last a lifetime.

I'm Looking forward to share my passion and love for Taekwondo with you and your family.
